ROUND 2 | SOCORRO VALLEY 100 | MARCH 14/15, 2020
Take Exit 152 (Escondida Exit) off of I-25, and follow the east frontage road to the north to Escondido Lake. Head east and pass over the Rio Grande. At Pueblitos (T intersection), turn left onto Johnson Hill County Road and head north and then east for about 1 mile. Staging and parking is then to the east along the arroyo road to the sand hill.
This course provides a variety of terrain that traverses deeply dissected canyons, high sandstone and limestone bluffs, and ridge tops. On the higher ridges, there are scenic views of the Rio Grande Valley to the west. The course offers a range from rocky “roller coasters” to sand whoops and incredible arroyos that have natural water features that provide a nice challenge, while being achievable by all skill/ability levels.
Lap Length: TBD
All youth races will be based on time +1 lap after the time cutoff. Time of each class will be discussed prior to the start of the race with input from the parents with consideration of track layout and class ability. Once a race is started, the time will not be cut short for any non emergent/safety circumstance.
